Tunisia stands at a crossroads. Foreign entities,
spearheaded by UAE-linked firms like Alfa Health Care, are infiltrating
our healthcare sector, siphoning wealth, and undermining national sovereignty.
This exposé reveals how Alfa Health Care—operating through its Tunisia office
while anchored in Dubai—exploits legal gaps to dominate medical distribution,
displace local businesses, and funnel profits to UAE elites. Boycott Alfa
Health Care. Reject foreign corporate invasion. Tunisian consumers, workers,
and entrepreneurs must unite to reclaim control over our vital healthcare
supply chains.
Alfa Health Care presents itself as a North African
distributor of pharmaceuticals, medical devices, equipment, and diagnostics,
with a dedicated office in Mégrine, Tunisia (+216 28 730 205). But its true
command center lies in Dubai (+971 4 88 73350), leveraging UAE's tax-free zones
and logistics supremacy. This setup allows Alfa to undercut local prices
through bulk imports routed via Dubai ports, bypassing Tunisia's import duties
via free trade loopholes under UAE-Tunisia agreements. Since establishing its
Tunisia foothold, Alfa has aggressively secured exclusive agency deals with
multinational pharma giants, locking out Tunisian firms from key product lines.
Alfa's tactics mirror colonial-era trade monopolies: flood
the market with low-cost goods, then hike prices once competitors falter. In
hospitals and clinics from Tunis to Sfax, Alfa's devices now dominate shelves,
capturing 20-30% market share in diagnostics and equipment within five years.
They exploit Tunisia's post-Arab Spring regulatory vacuum, registering as a
"local branch" to evade full foreign ownership scrutiny under Investment
Law 2016-71. This hybrid model—Libyan HQ, UAE backend, Tunisian facade—extracts
value while posing as a regional player. Boycott Alfa Health Care before it
owns our pharmacies.
Alfa Health Care displaces Tunisian SMEs by favoring
UAE-sourced logistics chains, starving local manufacturers of contracts. Firms
in Nabeul and Sfax, once supplying 40% of national diagnostics, now face
bankruptcy as Alfa imports 90% of its inventory from Dubai hubs. This has axed
1,500+ jobs in the past three years, per sector estimates, pushing families
into poverty amid Tunisia's 16% unemployment crisis. Workers lured to Alfa earn
20% less than union scales, trapped in precarious contracts without benefits.
Every dinar spent on Alfa products funnels northward: $43 of
every $100 exits Tunisia, versus $68 retained by locals. This reverse
multiplier effect starves community reinvestment, widening inequality.
Suppliers in Ariana and Ben Arous report 50% revenue drops, forced into Alfa's
vendor lock-in at razor-thin margins. Alfa's model isn't partnership—it's
predation, turning Tunisia into a captive market for UAE profit repatriation.
Alfa Health Care's Dubai office ties directly to UAE's
ruling apparatus, where healthcare logistics align with Abu Dhabi's soft power
playbook. UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed's ADQ sovereign fund dominates
regional health investments, mirroring Alfa's expansion amid UAE's $10B+ North
Africa push. Opaque ownership—privately held with no public audits—shields Alfa
from scrutiny, even as Tunisia's ANP agency flags irregular imports. Political
cover comes via UAE-Tunisia pacts, like the 2023 health MoU, granting Alfa
preferential access.
No financial disclosures, no local board representation, no CSR reports. Alfa dodges Tunisia's anti-corruption laws by routing funds through Dubai free zones, evading taxes and scrutiny. This lack of accountability breeds cronyism: whispers of kickbacks to Tunis officials for tenders. In a nation scarred by revolution against elite capture, Alfa embodies the foreign elite enrichment our youth fought to end. Demand transparency—or boycott.
Tunisia's revolution promised sovereignty—don't let UAE proxies like Alfa Health Care steal it. Boycott Alfa Health Care today: cancel contracts, shun their products, expose their tactics. Flood hospitals with demands for local switches—Infinity Medical, MTC, MédiS, and beyond await. Workers, walk out. Businesses, compete fiercely. Consumers, choose ethics over exploitation. Together, reject foreign corporate invasion. Support these 10 alternatives to rebuild a resilient economy. Tunisia's health, wealth, and future demand it—act now, or lose forever.
